  Prompt Response:  A conversation that changed me was with my grandma that my family is depending on me to make it for them and that I promised them so much. Summary: Today in class we continued reading the story and started working on our characters Reflection:  Today in class I learned that characters have different perspectives and understanding of situations presented to them based on their past for example troy growing up with his dad.

Prompt: Write about something that you believed as a child.

  Prompt Response:  Something that I believed as a kid was the tooth fairy cause I wouldn't wake up and feel my parents put the money under my pillow. Summary: In class today we read the story and worked on a worksheet about our dreams Reflection:  Today in class I learned nothing is impossible is just a matter of time and it being limited, for example you can't expect to be a pro NBA basketball player at 30.

Prompt: Troy’s complaint about the unfair job system shows his frustration with racial discrimination. How did this conversation make you think about fairness and opportunity in society today? If you were in Troy’s position, what would you do?

  Prompt Response:  It made me think that in this world we live in he has a point but still we got to chase the opportunity and if you work hard enough you can achieve what you wish. Regardless in what decade or world we live in that racism and discrimination is still going to be present , it just matter what you do with it. If I was in his position I would understand but not let it stop me. Summary: Today in class we continued reading the book Fences and worked on a worksheet Reflection: Today in class I learned positive, neutral, and negative aspects of a word like ninja or home.

  Act 1, Scene 2: How does Rose’s role as a wife and mother reflect societal expectations of women, particularly African American women, in the 1950s, and how does her sense of duty impact her relationship with Troy?   It reflects that the mother is more of a caring character which fits the societal expectations of women being known for being more loving and is less harsh than Troy. Her sense of duty impacts her relationship with troy by balancing out the relationship as you see troy is more hard. It's like a good cop bad cop. Act 1, Scene 3: In what ways do Troy’s interaction with Corey reveals the complexities of masculinity and fatherhood in African American culture, and how does his past shape his expectations of manhood?  It reveals masculinity and fatherhood because his father dont want him to have an easy way and that he thinks he should work for his money , that his dad is trying to teach his son to be a man.   Prompt Response:   A time I was to afraid to accept the truth was when my parents told me I'm too suborn for my own good meaning that if I want something or need to get something done I'm not going to stop until the task is done. Summary: Today in class we watched a short trailer about the movie/book fences  Reflection:  I learned the plot of the story and characters such as Lyon , troy , and more.

  Prompt Response:  A time were I was judged unfairly it was when I was in France people assumed that because I always wear black and never talk that I'm a bad person. Summary: Today in class we worked on an assignment on commonlit Reflection:  I learned how not to judge a book by its cover.

  Prompt Response:  I would be curious to know about the traditional events like the day of the dead and 16th birthday party that's so important and why. Summary: Today in class we did a test and answered 6 questions about a girl who got inspired to read at an young age. Reflection:  Today I learned how to breakdown a passage and be able to answer the questions cautiously.

After hearing your classmates’ storymap presentations, choose one classmate’s story that stood out to you. Write about what you liked or learned from their journey and explain why it was meaningful to you.

  Prompt Response:   One classmate's story map that stood out to me is Nova. I liked how their presentation was diverse and how they explained each occurring event. I learned that we all face certain phases during teenage life, Summary: Today in class we worked on presenting our story Map and wrote down 2 interesting facts and had to rate the images and presentation. Reflection:  I learned that we all have a unique background which make it diverse and also learned that we all go through moments in life.

Reflect on a time when you discovered a new perspective that completely changed how you viewed a person, group, or place. How did your previous “single story” shape your thoughts or actions?

  Prompt Response:  A time I discovered a new perspective was going to a funeral. It made me view life as so short and fast because I was just talking with this person the other day and grew up around them. It shaped my thoughts by living life with no regrets and cherishing everything around me. Summary: Today in class we worked on commonlit. Talking about ones understanding and perspective on the world. Reflection:  I learned that thoughts and judgment really shape our day to day society. I state this because one thing can happen and impact the persons life forever.

  Prompt Response:  A specific moment were someone words offended me was when they said cause I'm Muslims I do certain stuff like throw bookbags or cover my body. It made me feel misunderstood. The actions taken was confronting the person so it may not happen again. My response did help resolve the issue. Summary: Today in class we worked on making a list of offensive words we have been called and we also went over a poem in the class.  Reflection:  I learned that you can not tell a person what is offensive and how they take it.

It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

  Prompt Response:  The part I love most of the lakeside community is the different themes during HOCO and how everybody come together dressed up. I show my school spirit by my fashion statements. My favorite homecoming tradition is the dance. Summary: Today in class we worked on presenting our story Map in class. Reflection:  Today I learned to get to know my peers more personally and significant events in they life that caused them impact.

Consider Edna Pontellier’s decision to pursue love and desire beyond her marriage in The Awakening. To what extent do you think the pressures of gender role expectations excuse, or fail to excuse, her affair with another man?

  Prompt Response:  The extent that I think pressures of gender roles expectations excuse, or fail to excuse, her affair with another man that it doesn't justify it because they should of been on the same page throughout and not wait until the very end. Summary: Today in class we worked on I want a wife and seen the expectation on the other side of the other gender. Reflection:  I learned how society set certain standard for certain gender roles just because their born like this , they have to do that.

  Prompt Response:   The learning method I enjoyed the most was class discussion. I state this because we can get a central idea of the whole class and come up with one conclusion as we work together. I find it brings the best out of people to challenge themselves and participate.  Summary: Today in class we went over expectations for Husbands in this world Reflection:  Today in class I learned the different social norms.

  Prompt Response:  One expectation in our culture that may be difficult on many is being able to put everything aside and provide. This may be difficult because men have feelings too, but in the world we live in there not noticed as much. Summary: Today in class we read a story on I want a wife and went over social expectations Reflection:  Today in class I learned what different cultures expect from different genders in their family.

Prompt Response:  The Atlanta metro area play a role in my life by it being my hometown and knowing all the ins and outs. Summary: We worked on our Map story  Reflection:  I learned in class to set a location

  Prompt Response:  A time I challenged my parents rules were going outside late. I did not feel no type of way , just expressed to them I'm grown. The outcome was me going out late. Summary: In class we read the story Two kinds. Reflection:  Today in class I learned how to make a story map.

You’ve been in Multicultural Literature for about 4.5 weeks. How has the class been going for you so far?

  Prompt Response:  The class has been good so far but you know with the other classes piling up on one another its overwhelming since I've had a project in each class period besides that I find this class alright. Summary: Today in class we went over the assignment "Two kinds" independently. Reflection:  Today in class I learned visual representation of vocabulary and how to show and express it.
