What is the most exciting thing about graduating high school for you personally? In your response, explain what you are looking forward to most after graduation (college, career, independence, travel, etc.) and why it matters to you.

  Prompt Response:  The most exciting part about graduating is being able to cross the finish line. What I am looking forward too most after graduation is starting my journey and gaining new opportunities because I plan on being rich no matter what, it´s just a matter of how I am going to get there. It matters to me because Ive been through a lot to get where i am now and I want to prove to myself not anybody else that I can make it no matter what. Summary: Today in class we watched a ted talk about finding your path Reflection:  I learned how to wisely choose my path.

  Prompt Response:  An outfit or style that may not fit what others expect is a outfit called a bazin. This is worn on special occasion like EID. People responded first with faces then they continued to ask what it was and why do we wear it in my culture. This reveals about stereotypes in society that people are quick to judge and associate something that it´s not because it´s different.  Summary: Today in class we watched a video about how clothing can be tied to identity & culture. Reflection:  I learned how different people associate certain pieces of clothing with cultures.

  Prompt Response:  A film that probably represents my culture is Madagascar or lion king because I am African. These movies explore the beauty of nature and animals. It matters because it shows the beauty and authenticity of my culture. Summary: Today in class we worked on our project Reflection:  I learned how to work with new people and be more social.

The short film Born With It shows how stereotypes can shape the way people see others and even how individuals see themselves. Reflect on the main character’s experience and explain how stereotypes impacted his identity and sense of belonging.   Prompt Response:   Stereotypes impacted the kids identity by he started viewing himself in their perspectives and believing everything they was saying. It can influence the way a culture or group is understood by others by others starting to believe it and changing their view on it. We see this when this little boy spreads the lie to the classroom that the other boy had AIDS. Summary: In class we watched a video and discussed about our project Reflection:  I learned how stereotypes can influence ones mind and change their perspective n others.

How does your hair connect to your culture or your identity? Describe a moment when your hair made you feel proud, uncomfortable, or misunderstood, and explain why.

  Prompt Response:  It connects to my culture or identity by defining who I am and making me unique from other cultures. A time it made me feel proud was yesterday at work when a customer told me I had amazing hair and too look up my background on it. It made me feel proud because even though it wasnt re twisted or in any style it still stood out. Summary: Today in class we watched a short film. Reflection:  I learned the importance of hair and its cultural background.

Write about a time when you realized that your perception of a particular food was based on a stereotype. Explain what the food was, what you originally believed about it, and where that belief came from. Then describe how your perspective changed after experiencing or learning more about the food.   Prompt Response:  A time I realized my perception on a particular food was based on a stereotype was when I had ate tamalas, which I loved. I originally believed it was nasty and bland just off the looks but that can be deceiving. The moment that shifted my outlook on it was when I was at my mexican friends house and his parents offered and I couldn´t be rude. Summary: Today in class we worked on our powerpoint to present. Reflection:  I learned how to reflect on my background and cultural to learn more about food that was passed down.  

How does the New Orleans episode of Street Food: USA show that food represents more than just something people eat? Explain how at least one food from the episode reflects culture, identity, or community.

  Prompt Response:  They show that food represent more than just something people eat with background and how the dish has meaning and came about. One food in the video that reflects culture is for example gumbo blending West African, Native American, French, and Spanish traditions. Summary: In class we watched an episode on different food and it ´ s cultural background. Reflection:  I learned that food can represents many different backgrounds mixed together.
