  Prompt Response:  A time I realized my perception on a particular food was based on a stereotype was when I had ate tamalas, which I loved. I originally believed it was nasty and bland just off the looks but that can be deceiving. The moment that shifted my outlook on it was when I was at my mexican friends house and his parents offered and I couldn´t be rude. Summary: Today in class we worked on our powerpoint to present. Reflection:  I learned how to reflect on my background and cultural to learn more about food that was passed down.  

How does the New Orleans episode of Street Food: USA show that food represents more than just something people eat? Explain how at least one food from the episode reflects culture, identity, or community.

  Prompt Response:  They show that food represent more than just something people eat with background and how the dish has meaning and came about. One food in the video that reflects culture is for example gumbo blending West African, Native American, French, and Spanish traditions. Summary: In class we watched an episode on different food and it ´ s cultural background. Reflection:  I learned that food can represents many different backgrounds mixed together.

Today, we continued our discussion about culture and food. What is one dish from your culture that is a must-have as a representation of your culture? Identify the dish and explain what it is and why it is significant.

  Prompt Response:  One dish that is a must have is mafĂ©. It is rice mixed with blended sauce a base of tomatoes, onions, and peanut butter and often with with meat. It is significant because it is a food we would gather and eat together to show hospitality. Summary:Today in class we worked on our Cultural  food reflection table. Reflection:  I learned how food can symbolize different cultures and how it can be made from anything laying around.  

How did the writing process (brainstorming, drafting, revising, proofreading, and finalizing) shape the strength of the final essay, and what was learned about your personal strengths and areas for growth as a writer?

  Prompt Response:   It shaped the strength of the final essay by making me more confident in my skills and honing them more. What was learned about my personal strengths was that I just needed to get it started and it flows. I had trouble with being confident about my skills to write it or it being too much. Summary: We worked on our final Draft of our Essay. Reflection:  I learned how to write a full essay confidently. 

Why is drafting an essential step in the writing process rather than going straight to a final version? Use your own experience from this essay to explain how drafting improved (or revealed weaknesses in) your thinking.

  Prompt Response:  It is an essential step because it lets you know what you need to work on and what is good already. Drafting improved my thinking by working on my weaknesses like brainstorming and enhancing my strengths. Summary: We worked on illuminate on our Draft essay. Reflection:  I learned how to write a structured body paragraph.

  Prompt Response:  I struggle with the most with coming up with a good commentary paragraph that supports my claim. The part I feel most confident now is citing evidence from the text that is relevant. I feel so strong in that area because of how I can correlate the text to my claim. I find the other part difficult because transition words and structuring it correctly. I plan on improving this by writing more and putting more efforts into anything that has to do with figurative language for example texting. Summary: We worked on finishing our evidence sheet. Reflection:  I learned to find relevant evidence that corresponds with my claim.

As we move toward the end of the semester, what are your top three college choices right now? Identify the colleges and explain why you are attracted to each one. Even if college is not currently on your radar, you must still respond to the question and explain your thinking.

  Prompt Response:   My top three college choices right now are Kennesaw state, Georgia State, and Albany or fort valley State. I choose these colleges because they are close to home and KSU has a good program and also I have family over there. Summary: Today in class we worked on gathering credible textual evidence to support our claims. Reflection:  I learned how gather quotes for my claims to build a strong essay.

During brainstorming, one idea usually stands out. What is the most interesting or strongest idea you came up with for your essay, and what made you choose it over the others?

  Prompt Response:   The stongest Idea I have came up for was that loss can influence a person`s identity through purpose, home, and motherhood. What made me chose this over the others was in the book there is a lot of moments about loss it stuck out to me. After completing the assignments on making college affordable and finding the best college fit, what is one thing you learned that you did not know before? Why do you think this information is important for seniors to understand?

  Prompt Response:  One thing I learned about was college tituation in state and out state, which I was not aware about fully. Today we focused on constructing a strong literary argument paragraph about Wild and whether discomfort is necessary for meaningful personal growth. After working through the claim-evidence-analysis structure, explain which part of the paragraph was most challenging for you and why. Do you find it more difficult to create an arguable claim or to move beyond summary in your analysis?

  Prompt Response:  The most challenging would be finding a thesis statement and a claim because it needs to be strong enough to find reliable & sufficient evidence. without a strong thesis statement the essay wouldn't hold.   Prompt Response:  The aspects I find most challenging the beginning to get the essay rolling. I find this challenging because its the base and its hard to get the wheels rolling. Some strengths I have is with citation of the story and finding relevant evidence to prove my point.   Prompt Response:  The topic that challenged me the most was probably the one about being judged. This topic challenged me because i have so many moments this occurred but didnt know how to express it. I worked through it by reflecting on the situation on going step by step on how it made me feel.   Prompt Response:  What I learned about myself was that creating similies and metaphors to represent my struggles and growth transformed abstract emotions to visual concepts.
