Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

  Prompt Response:  A time I did some out of the norm was went on a camping trip. Others reacted with shock since I was so high up in the mountains. Summary: Today we read a myth and went over stereotypes  Reflection:  Today in class I learned different assumptions on different races and how they could be completely far from the truth.

Judith Ortiz Cofer says, “The Island travels with you.” What part of your culture, family, or identity do you feel “travels” with you everywhere you go?

  Prompt Response:   The part of my culture, family, or identity that I feel travel with me is my language because no matter where I go in the world I always speak it at home or with family and friends. Summary: Today in class we worked on the commonlit assignment we were assigned through clever. Reflection:  Today in class I learned about determining themes through summarizing in commonlit.

Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

  Prompt Response:  A time someone assumed something about myself because of a stereotype was assuming cause I'm black I like chicken. The situation was at a drive thru , they assumed I wanted chicken cause I'm black and I asked why you say that and explained to them that it doesn't mean cause I'm black I like chicken , even though I do. Summary: Today in class we went over stereotypes and certain assumptions in cultures  Reflection:  Today in class I learned different assumptions on different stereotypes in the world.

  Prompt Response:   Something that I will never fully understand is just life in general because its so beautiful and complex. It's like you can feel so many emotions at once and its like were all connected  Summary: Today in class we presented our cultural identity poem  Reflection:  Something I learned in class today was all my peers/classmates backgrounds which makes us different and unique.

Prompt: What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

  Prompt Response:  The most creative thing I've ever made was a remote control toy car and it stands out to me because it took time, patience, and dedication to complete that project. Summary: Today in class we went over the poem " A Korean Dream by Sharon Lee" and analysed it to understand the bigger picture. Reflection:  Today in class I learned that some people have traditions that they are sick of and want to change. I also learned about skin bleaching.

Prompt: Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

  Prompt Response:  Two of my most burning thoughts about life is how languages came about this is because how other people went about to learn a language or just create one and create a meaning for that work. My last burning question is how did a person come fourth about time, I say this because how did that person know what time it was that day and how they come about saying ok, this is 3:00. Summary: Today in class we went over the poem " I, Too by Langston Huges " and identify the deeper meaning behind the text. Reflection:  Today in class I learned how to effectively analyse a text. It should me how text can be seen in more than one way and it can have deeper meaning with history behind it.

Describe a time when you felt completely lost.

  Prompt Response:  One time that I've felt lost before was traveling all the time and moving made me feel like I wasn't stable and just going place to place. Summary: Today in class we presented our masks about cultural identity. Reflection:  One thing I learned or felt today in class was seeing all the cultural backgrounds and how many people from different places just come back to one place. I learned its these traditions that makes us different and stand out.

  Prompt Response:  I've adapted to the course over the past week by getting used to having a routine of completing things and I'm getting back in my habit of staying busy. One strength was adaptation , how quick I got used to it and one challenge I anticipate as we progress is being overwhelmed with a lot of work from this class and especially others as well. Summary: Today in class we worked on our cultural identity mask and went over the requirements for our mask reflection paper. Reflection:  One thing I learned today was the correct way and format of typing a reflection paper.

Describe how gender roles or patriarchy influence your identity?

  Prompt Response:  Gender roles or patriarchy influence my identity by it represents how I am and how I see certain things and certain people. Summary: Today in class we went over cultural Identity and how certain people have different traditions and doing certain things. Reflection:  Today in class I learned how certain culture have traditions and legacy's that last for over decades.

Prompt Response:   A meaningful family tradition unique to my culture and how it mirrors or contrasts with cultural identity themes of expectations and roles of "Girl" are in my culture it is bad to eat or listen to music in the bathroom. It mirrors with cultural identity by changing the way I do every day things and changes my point of aspect on certain things and how I view it. Summary: Today in class we went and took school I'd pictures and we went over the 4 question about the "Girl " passage. Reflection:  One thing that I learned was how different culture backgrounds effects different outlooks on certain things in life.

  Prompt Response:  My cultural heritage shapes my daily expectations in many ways by in my family they expect you to be an over achieving student and become an lawyer or doctor. They see this as the easy route so when you tell them you want to be some crazy like a movie star or YouTuber there not used to that cause their traditional. Summary: In class today we went over the story Girl by Jamaica Kincaid. We went over how in our daily lives we have expectations such as you see in the story , what the mother tells her daughter. Reflection:  Today I learned how different cultural backgrounds have different expectations for everybody for example one cultural might not be able to show their hair when in another your allowed. It impacted me by showing me how to compare these different cultural backgrounds to our self and our expectations showing how to reflect on these aspects.
